1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using The Great Game (the “Service”), including our website and mobile applications, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you are participating as part of a school or corporate event, these terms apply in addition to any specific Event Agreement signed by your institution.

2. Nature of Service & Safety

The Great Game provides self-guided, outdoor scavenger hunts in public parks and urban areas. Participation is at your own risk. You acknowledge that:

  • You are responsible for maintaining awareness of your surroundings, including traffic, terrain, and weather.
  • You must follow all local park rules, city ordinances, and pedestrian safety laws.
  • We do not guarantee the condition of public parks or the availability of specific landmarks.
  • Minors must be accompanied and supervised by a legal guardian at all times.

3. Maps & Location Data

Our Service utilizes Mapbox (web) and Google Maps (app). By using our Service, you agree to be bound by their respective Terms of Service. Location data is used in real-time to facilitate gameplay and is processed as described in our Privacy Policy.

4. Institutional & Large Group Events

For events involving schools or large groups (20+ players), The Great Game may deactivate public consumer access to specific routes to ensure group safety. The organizing institution is responsible for the overall supervision and conduct of participants during these private sessions.

5. Prohibited Conduct

Participants are strictly prohibited from:

  • Trespassing on private property or entering restricted park areas.
  • Damaging park property, wildlife, or monuments.
  • Using the Service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose.
  • Attempting to scrape, “bot,” or reverse-engineer our game logic or maps.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, The Great Game, its creators, and partners shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including but not limited to physical injury or property loss, arising from your participation in our scavenger hunts.

7. Refund Policy

Consumer adventure purchases are generally refundable. Event purchases are generally non-refundable once the game code has been activated or the hunt has commenced, except in cases of verified technical failure of the Service.
