The family weekend activity every generation plays together.

The Great Game turns your campus into a team scavenger hunt and escape game played on phones. Students show their families around, parents and siblings solve puzzles together, and everyone discovers the stories behind the place their student now calls home. The adventure is completely self-guided and can be played anytime throughout the whole weekend, with no staffing needed!

“A fantastic way to get parents and their kids to interact without the awkward conversations and annoyed looks!”

— Gina D., Tufts University Family Weekend

Why it's perfect for family weekend

Families want to see their student's world, spend real time together and have something to do between your scheduled events.

Families see their student’s world

Every stop is a place that matters to campus life, so parents leave knowing where their student eats, studies and hangs out.

“A fantastic and fun opportunity to learn about our two campuses and spend some time with loved ones.” Russell Sage College

Fun for every age

Younger siblings love the photo stops and floating letters, parents love the riddles, and hints mean grandparents never get stuck.

“I also enjoyed doing it with my daughter! And the selfies!” Tiffany B., Tufts parent

No staffing required

Answers are checked in the app, so families can play without anyone stationed around campus.

“Something for our Sibs & Kids students/guests to do that we didn’t have to facilitate ourselves.” Grand Valley State University

Fits a packed weekend

Families play whenever suits them, between the game, the brunch and the a cappella concert.

“The flexibility to engage at their own pace was a definite plus, especially given the already full schedule.” Tufts University

Real time together

Solving puzzles as a team gives families something to talk about other than grades.

“A fantastic way to get parents and their kids to interact without the awkward conversations and annoyed looks!” Tufts University

Families come back for more

Schools run it year after year, and word spreads.

“Many more families participated this year and loved it.” Northwestern University

How we make your family weekend special

Puzzles for every age

Riddles and ciphers for the adults, photo stops and floating AR letters for the kids, and hints at every step.

Up to 30 routes

Families are spread across campus, so no stop gets crowded on your busiest weekend.

Your campus’s best stories

We research your school and build the game around what makes it special, so parents leave with stories to tell.

All you do is print flyers

Put them in the welcome packet and at check-in. Families scan, download and play. We can also create a custom site with all the information families need to play, ready to include in your Family Weekend email.

Photo stops families keep

Team selfies at landmarks give families keepsakes and give you photos for next year.

Family weekend questions

Can younger siblings and grandparents play?
Yes. Puzzles range from photo stops kids love to riddles for adults, and there are hints at every step so no family ever gets stuck. We set the walking distance to suit your crowd.
Does every family member need the app?
You only need one device per team, but often everyone does download it.
How do I share it with our guests?
We’ll build you a custom site that you can share with visitors. They’ll be able to download the app directly from the site and see all the instructions.
Can families play whenever they want during the weekend?
Yes. Open the game for the whole weekend and families play between your scheduled events, or run it as one kickoff at a set time.
How long does it take?
Typically between 45 and 90 minutes. We set the number of stops and the walking distance to fit your schedule.
How big is each team?
Teams can be 1 to 8 players, so a whole family can play as one team.
What if it rains?
Families can play any time the game is open, so they can wait out the rain. Indoor stops can use QR codes instead of GPS.
How far ahead do we need to book?
Some partners book a year in advance; others have had us build their game in 24 hours. Hop on a call and we’ll fit your dates.

“The most fun were those that had something specific to do with the location you’re at. So finding the date, seeing the Latin slogan, or identifying the lion were the best.”
